CMJTC, in conjunction with Theatre Nephesh,
Tel Aviv, Israel, is proud to present the premier US
presentation of “An Israeli Love Story”
After taking the summer off, we're back with “An Israeli Love Story” is the award-winning, one-woman show starring Adi Bielski, written and directed by Pnina Gary. “An Israeli Love Story,” the true story of Pnina Gary, starts in 1942, when Margalit, the pseudonym for Pnina Dromi, maiden name of Pnina Gary, was 15 years old. She was a moshav girl in pre-state Israel….”
Only one prop graces center-stage, a crudely fashioned, unpainted low wooden bench. There’s something oddly compelling about the utter simplicity.
Margalit enters slowly, carrying a shoulder bag and a battered 1940s-era cardboard suitcase. Her plain shirt, baggy black pants, with brown sandals worn over white ankle socks make her seem approachable and exciting. But the one thing no one can miss is that Margalit is heartbroken.
From that moment on – an hour of an emotional roller-coaster will have you laughing and crying within the same minute
An Israeli Love Story was presented at no charge, but we depend on your generosity to offset the costs of royalties and residuals to the artists involved. Please support us today so we may continue our entertaining, innovative, and motivating programming. Thank you.
